I had to crop this as it was taken at 105mm (I couldn't really be bothered to take off the macro lens during my holiday), but I'm still fairly happy with it.

The Moon 10 November 2010

As it was a clear night, I thought I'd dust off the old 300mm F4 L and see if I could focus on the moon. Not as sharp as I'd like and the high ISO creates some noise, but despite the lack of a tripod I quite like this shot.

First shots with the Sigma 105mm EX F2.8 - my first with a dedicated macro lens. Not a bad set of first efforts, though certainly a lot of room for improvement. The EOS 40D proved my biggest issue, it's been so long since I used it that I couldn't remember how everything worked!

All at F2.8 and ISO200
